Jakub Šimanský is a Brno-based guitarist working in acoustic and experimental music, drawing on the American primitive tradition - rooted in Southern bluegrass and Asian music - and filtering it through a distinctly Central European sensibility. Before going solo he spent nearly a decade as drummer in the noise-rock band UNNA, then debuted under his own name in 2016 with Face to Face Against American Primitivism in Eastern Europe Vol. 1 on Stoned to Death Records. Together with guitarist Tomáš Niesner he forms the duo Šimanský Niesner, which has released three albums.
Šimanský performed at the opening of the new outdoor stage of Brno's Kafary (June 18, 2026) together with the band Kalle.
In March 2026, Šimanský performed as the opening act for London cellist Jo Quail at Prague's Punctum-Krásovka.
