Jakub Šafr is a Czech jazz and swing pianist, arranger, and bandleader born in 1975 in České Budějovice. He studied at the Prague Conservatory, where 1930s jazz became his lifelong passion, and went on to lead Ondřej Havelka's Melody Makers. He now fronts his own ensembles - Jakub Šafr Trio, Swing Trio Avalon, and Shaffer's Riffers - and teaches at the Prague Conservatory. He is also a regular collaborator with the Semafor theatre in Prague.
