Jack Elam (November 13, 1920 - October 20, 2003) was an American film and television actor whose career spanned more than four decades, taking in 73 feature films and at least 41 television series. He became one of Hollywood's most recognizable character actors, known above all for his misaligned left eye - the result of a childhood accident - and for his long run of menacing villain roles in Westerns and crime dramas. Later in his career he shifted to comic and self-parodying parts, and in 1994 was inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
