Emil Amos is an American multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Portland, Oregon, whose work spans avant-garde folk, heavy psychedelia, and cinematic electronic music across a sprawling catalogue of projects. He co-founded the instrumental post-rock band Grails and served as drummer for the stoner-rock outfit Om, while his long-running solo vehicle Holy Sons has produced more than seventeen albums. With fellow Grails co-founder Alex Hall he records as Lilacs & Champagne, a duo rooted in sample-based collage and instrumental hip-hop.
Holy Sons released on October 31, 2025 the album Puritan Themes (Thrill Jockey Records) - Emil Amos's seventeenth solo album, recorded and mixed exclusively by himself.
Grails released on May 16, 2025 the album Miracle Music (Temporary Residence), the band's ninth studio album, on which Emil Amos participates as co-founder and multi-instrumentalist.
Holy Sons announced the album Puritan Themes in August 2025 and released the first singles; recording took place in Chicago in the summer of 2025.
Lilacs & Champagne released in 2024 the album Fantasy World - the duo's first album in nine years, which expands their sampling approach with live instruments.
Grails started in January 2026 a European tour with a series of stops in Germany, which continues with additional dates in February and March 2026.
