Eliška Balzerová (born 1949 in Vsetín) is one of the most prominent Czech actresses of her generation, equally at home on stage and screen. She became a household name through the role of Dr. Alžběta Čeňková in the television series Hospital at the End of the City, for which she won the BAMBI award in Berlin in 1982. In 2011 she received the Czech Lion for Best Supporting Actress for the film Women in Temptation. Since 2003 she has performed the one-woman show Můj báječný rozvod, playing every character herself - a production that holds the record as the longest-running staging of Irish playwright Geraldine Aron's play in any single country.
Balzerová received the Master Prix 2025 award, which is presented by the Life of an Artist Foundation; the presentation took place on December 6, 2025 at the Lucerna cinema in Prague.
In December 2025, a new theatrical production of Harold a Maude premiered, in which Balzerová plays one of the leading roles.
In the Audiobook of the Year 2024 poll, Balzerová placed 3rd in the best narrator category for the audiobook Toyen: První dáma surrealismu published by Supraphon.
The Actors Association awarded Balzerová the František Filipovský Prize for long-term mastery in dubbing; the presentation took place on September 21, 2024 in Přelouč.
In January 2024, the Czech comedy Aristokratka ve varu directed by Jiřího Vejdělka was released in cinemas, in which Balzerová reprises the role of the castle housekeeper Mrs. Tiché from the first installment.
