American jazz vocalist Elena Sonenshine performs with the Jocose Jazz band at Prague's Jazz Dock.
Elena Sonenshine is a Czech jazz singer, composer, lyricist and arranger, born in Brno. She trained at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague and later won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since 1992 she has been a fixture in Prague's jazz clubs, and from 1996 she has led her own band, Jocose Jazz, playing original compositions alongside jazz arrangements of folk songs. Her debut album You Go to My Head was released in the US and spent four weeks in the American top-50 most-played jazz recordings.
