DE STAAT + SUPPORT: HIQPY / NL
Dutch rock band De Staat plays in Prague with support from Hiqpy.
De Staat is a Dutch alternative rock band from Nijmegen, founded in 2006 by singer, guitarist and producer Torre Florim. The five-piece blends alternative rock with dance-punk, funk and experimental electronics - a combination that has consistently defied genre labels. Over two decades they built a reputation as one of Europe's most inventive live acts, earning Edison Awards, 3FM Awards and a Bernays Lifetime Achievement Award.
De Staat announced the show 'De Staat Becomes De Staat' at Koninklijk Theater Carré in Amsterdam on October 2 and 3, 2026, connected with the release of a new album of the same name and an art installation.
The new show was created in collaboration with director Floor Houwink ten Cate and visual artists Boris Acket and Tarik Barrim; thematically it touches on power, populism, and the boundary between reality and fiction.
The band performs at the Down The Rabbit Hole festival in summer 2026, where the show 'De Staat Becomes De Staat' celebrates its world premiere.
In November 2025, De Staat held a series of intimate club shows in the Netherlands with unique setlists for each evening.
In January 2024, the band held a three-part residency at London's Oslo Hackney, followed by a series of shows at Doornroosje in Nijmegen and Paradise in Amsterdam as part of the Red / Yellow / Blue project.
