Colorfactory
The legendary Czech alternative band Colorfactory reunites for a concert with their original lineup. Their debut album soundtracked the cult film Šeptej and won the Czech Grammy for Album of the Year.
David Volenec is a Czech singer and guitarist best known as the frontman of Colorfactory, one of the defining alternative acts of the Czech 1990s scene. The Prague band, built around British producer Colin Stuart in 1993, brought an ethereal indie-folk sound with a Mancunian edge to Czech music. Seven tracks from the group's debut album featured on the soundtrack of David Ondříček's cult film Šeptej (Whisper, 1996), making Volenec's voice part of a generation's collective memory. The debut won the Czech Gramy award for Discovery of the Year in 1996. Volenec has also played in Sebastians and Prince of Tennis.
Colorfactory announced club concerts in Prague (Roxy) and Brno (Fléda) in November 2026 - their first full-fledged club performances in years.
Colorfactory performed at MFF Karlovy Vary before the screening of the newly restored film Šeptej, which celebrates thirty years since its premiere in 2026.
David Volenec confirmed in an interview for Radiožurnál that the band plans further concerts - the Karlovy Vary performance was just the beginning of their return.
The Kytary podcast released an interview with David Volenec, in which the singer recalls the creation of Colorfactory and the influence of the British indie scene on Czech music of the 1990s.
