Gate of the Sun. Zouhar 60
Chamber orchestra concert featuring the premiere of Vít Zouhar's composition alongside works by Martinů and Mozart.
DAMA DAMA is a Brno-based Central European Percussion Ensemble founded in 1990 by composer and percussionist Dan Dlouhý, whose artistic pseudonym gave the group its name. The ensemble focuses on contemporary music for percussion, placing strong emphasis on visual and multimedia presentation alongside the purely musical. Over its career it has given thousands of concerts at home and abroad - often representing the Czech Ministry of Culture at events such as Expo 2000 and Czech Culture Days in Paris, Berlin and Vienna - and won the pan-European percussion orchestra competition in Enschede, Netherlands.
Dan Dlouhý (Dama Dama) presented the world premiere of the multimedia solo project Cesty on October 16, 2024 at Besedním dům, created on commission for the Expozice nové hudby festival on the occasion of the Year of Czech Music.
The project Cesty was part of the 36th edition of the Expozice nové hudby festival, organized by Brno Philharmonic, which in 2024 was titled [NO IDEAS] BUT IN THINGS.
The review of the Cesty project on KlasikaPlus.cz described the performance as existing at the intersection of a musical-visual installation and theatrical performance, utilizing artificial intelligence in the creation of part of the content.
