Christopher Hampton is a British playwright, screenwriter, and translator. He is best known for his stage adaptation Les Liaisons Dangereuses (1985), based on the novel by Choderlos de Laclos, which became a major success in London's West End and on Broadway. He won an Academy Award for his screenplay adaptation of the same story in 1988.
