About

Čeněk Šlégl (1899-1970), born Vincenc Schlögel, was a Czech actor, director and screenwriter. He made his name as the comic foil to Vlasta Burian, and the two appeared together in a string of popular First Republic comedies, including Baron Prášil (1940), where Šlégl played the dotty Count Kocharowski. After the war he became the only Czech artist to receive a lifetime ban from acting.
