Blue Effect were a Prague rock band formed in October 1968, whose sound shifted markedly over two decades - from blues rock through jazz fusion to art rock. Guitarist Radim Hladík was the sole constant member, leading the group until his death in December 2016. At their very first public appearance, the 2nd Czechoslovak Beat Festival at Lucerna in December 1968, they were named Discovery of the Year and Band of the Season. The group formally disbanded in 1990, but Hladík revived it in 2004 with younger musicians and performed regularly until the end of his life.
A tour 'Tribute to Radim Hladik: My Game - Tour 2026' has been announced in five Czech cities, during which members of the last Blue Effect lineup will revive the iconic Nová syntéza project accompanied by the CBC Big Band.
