Atheist is an American death/thrash metal band from Florida, active since the late 1980s. They built their reputation on a technically demanding sound that blended death metal with jazz-influenced harmonies and intricate rhythms. Their 1991 album Unquestionable Presence remains a landmark of technical death metal.
