Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin (1799–1837) was a Russian poet and writer widely regarded as the founder of modern Russian literature. He is best known for the novel in verse Eugene Onegin, as well as prose works such as The Queen of Spades. His writing profoundly shaped the Russian language and continues to inspire theatrical and musical adaptations worldwide.
