Alexandr Starý (born 1983 in Ostrava) is a Czech pianist who trained at the Janáček Conservatory under Prof. Marta Toaderová and later graduated from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ostrava, where he now works as an accompanist. He honed his craft at masterclasses with Dmitri Bashkirov, Zoltán Kocsis, Marta Gulyás and Andrzej Jasinski, and in 2008 crowned four years at the Pommersfeldern Summer Academy with a performance of Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto. Alongside orchestral work with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava and the Brno State Philharmonic, he is an active chamber musician and Lied accompanist, with a long-standing partnership with bass Jan Martiník and membership in the piano trio A Tre and ANSemble Duettino.
