Alex Hall is an American guitarist, producer and DJ from Portland, Oregon, best known as a co-founder of the instrumental band Grails, which he started with drummer Emil Amos in 1999 under the name Laurel Canyon. Over a quarter century, Grails have released albums on Southern and Temporary Residence, earning a reputation as one of the most distinctive acts at the intersection of post-rock, psychedelia and experimental music. With Amos he also runs Lilacs & Champagne, a sampler-based project drawing on hip-hop production, 1970s film soundtracks and psychedelic tape collage. Hall is also an avid record collector and DJ who performs worldwide.
Grails released an interview in June 2025 about their new album Miracle Music, in which Hall and Amos described its creation as a return to the band's early ideals.
