The Wants

The Wants will perform at Café V lese in Prague on 1 December 2026 as part of their EU / UK Tour Winter 2026. The New York City trio - Madison Velding-VanDam (songwriter, guitarist, producer), drummer Jason Gates, and synthesist Yasmeen Night - will play material from their 2025 album Bastard alongside new songs from their forthcoming third studio album.

The band released their debut, Container (2020), on London-based Council Records. Recorded in a Brooklyn shipping-container-turned-rehearsal space, it drew praise from NME, Brooklyn Vegan and The Line of Best Fit before its touring cycle was cut short in March 2020. Bastard, recorded by Peter Katis, followed in 2025 and was subsequently remixed by Factory Floor, Broken English Club and Gorgonn. Velding-VanDam also runs STTT, a record label focused on creative friction and independence, with a roster that includes Content Blocks and Sin Clair.
