Zbytiny is a small village south of Prachatice on the edge of the Šumava Protected Landscape Area, first recorded in 1388. Cultural life centres on the local cultural house, which regularly hosts Czech musicians and comedians. The grounds of a former quarry serve as the annual venue for the South of Heaven open-air metal festival.
