Nelahozeves Castle

Nelahozeves

About the venue

Nelahozeves Castle is a 16th-century Renaissance building and one of the most significant late-Renaissance structures in Bohemia. It was commissioned by Florian Griesbeck of Griesbach, an advisor to Emperor Ferdinand I; construction lasted over 60 years and is associated with royal architect Boniface Wohlmut. Since 1623 the castle has belonged to the Lobkowicz family, and since 1997 a museum displaying the family collections — including paintings by Rubens, Brueghel and Veronese — has been open to the public. The historic halls, courtyards and gardens also host festivals and private events.
