Paintings at the Castle
Painting exhibition at Manětín Castle, open from 10:00 to 16:00.
Manětín Castle is a Baroque stately home north of Plzeň, held by the Lažanský family for over 300 years. It took its present form after a devastating fire in 1712, rebuilt to designs by architect Tomáš Haffenecker. The restored interiors retain original furnishings, fresco decoration and a portrait gallery of the Lažanský counts. The grounds include a French garden and an English park; a 30-metre covered corridor links the castle to the Church of St. John the Baptist. Since 2002 it has been a national cultural monument administered by the National Heritage Institute.
