Valdštějnská zahrada

Prague

About the venue

The Wallenstein Garden was laid out between 1623 and 1629 alongside the construction of Wallenstein Palace in Malá Strana, making it one of the key works of early Baroque in Bohemia. At over 14,000 m² it is the second largest garden in central Prague. Its centrepiece is a monumental sala terrena decorated with 32 frescoes on classical themes; the garden also features copies of sculptures by Adriaen de Vries, an artificial stalactite wall with grottos, and free-roaming peacocks. Since 1996 it has been part of the Senate of the Czech Republic, and free concerts are held here during the summer season.
