About the venue

The Purkrabství (Burgrave's House) on Vyšehrad is the only medieval building of the Royal Precinct to survive the Hussite sack of 1420 - most likely because it served as the residence of the estate administrator. It took on its current baroque form in the 18th century during the fortress reconstruction. A 2003-2005 renovation by architects Vladimír Faktor and Ludmila Šolcová converted it into a cultural centre with a chamber hall for 80 and a café. It hosts concerts, theatre performances, lectures and regular weekend fairy-tale shows for children.
