About the venue

Kavárna Slavia sits opposite the National Theatre in the Lažanský Palace, at the corner of Národní třída and Smetanovo nábřeží. Opened in 1884, it was remodelled in the 1930s in Art Deco style - leather booths, marble walls and wide windows looking out over the Vltava and Prague Castle. Regulars over the decades included Jaroslav Seifert and Václav Havel; during the communist era it served as a gathering point for dissident intellectuals. A live pianist plays every evening.
