Pevnost Josefov - Bastion I a podzemí

Liberec

About the venue

Bastion I and Underground is the visitor entrance to the underground defence system of the fortress town of Josefov in Jaroměř, built from 1780 to the design of French engineer Claude-Benoît Duhamel de Querlond. The Josefov underground, originally comprising 45 km of tunnels, ranks among the most extensive underground defence systems in Europe. Visitors can explore the tunnels on a guided tour with a costumed guide, view the lapidarium of Baroque sculptures from the workshop of M. B. Braun, residential casemates, and the rampart viewpoint. The site is open seasonally from April to October.
