Náměstí Míru (Peace Square) is the historic centre of Bruntál, one of the oldest towns in Bohemia, first recorded in 1223. The rectangular space of roughly 90 × 50 m retains its medieval layout, though most of the surrounding houses were refaced in Empire or Classicist style over the centuries. The standout exception is the Renaissance Gabriel House, with its volute gable characteristic of 16th-century Silesian Renaissance architecture. The square is also home to a Holy Trinity sculpture group and a modern water feature from 2010 inspired by a mountain stream. It regularly hosts city events and farmers' markets.
