About the venue

The museum in Lány is dedicated to Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia, who used the Lány chateau as his country retreat and died there in 1937. The permanent exhibition covers his personal life, political career and daily routines at the chateau. The complex also contains Masaryk's grave, making it a significant site of Czech national memory.
