About the venue

The Museum of Dr. Aleš Hrdlička occupies a former school building on Horní náměstí and is one of the oldest museums in the Vysočina region, founded in 1895. It is named after the world-renowned anthropologist and Humpolec native Aleš Hrdlička. Permanent exhibitions cover anthropology with interactive elements, 19th-century folk life in the Humpolec area, a dedicated Hrdlička section with a Native American village, and a puppet collection. A brand-new ethnographic exhibition opened in October 2025.
