Lemberk Castle Through the Ages
Lemberk Castle opens its season with an exhibition on its history, Easter decorations, and guided tours in Czech and German.
Lemberk Castle near Jablonné v Podještědí grew out of a Gothic fortress founded in the 1240s by Havel of Lemberk, husband of St. Zdislava. It was rebuilt as a Renaissance château in the 16th century and given its current early Baroque appearance between 1660 and 1680. Several guided tours take visitors through the state rooms, the black kitchen, Zdislava's chamber and an exhibition of historical interior styles. The castle has also served as a film location, most famously for the Czech classic Císařův pekař a Pekařův císař.
