Dvořák Festival: O sole mio ...
Tenor Daniel Matoušek and pianist Václav Krahulík present a programme of Italian melodies and piano works by Chopin, Gershwin, and other masters.
The baroque church of St. Matthew stands alone on a hill in the hamlet of Jedlová above Deštné v Orlických horách and is listed as a Czech cultural monument. A wooden predecessor is first mentioned in 1636; the current stone building was constructed in 1737-1741 and consecrated by Carmelite prior František Martin. After the expulsion of the German population following World War II the church fell into disrepair, and restoration work only began in 1993. Inside, historical photographs of Jedlová and the surrounding villages are on display, and the hilltop offers views across the Orlické hory ridges.
