Church of St. Giles

Prague

About the venue

The Church of St. Giles (Kostel sv. Jiljí) is a Gothic three-aisled church of Romanesque origin on Husova Street in Prague's Old Town. Construction was initiated in 1339 by Bishop John IV of Dražice, and the church was consecrated on 4 May 1371. Since 1625 it has been administered by the Dominican Order, who remodelled the interior in Baroque style between 1731 and 1744. The vaulted ceilings feature frescoes by Václav Vavřinec Reiner (1734–1735), and the church is a popular venue for classical music concerts.
