About the venue

A former Benedictine monastery near Stříbro, founded in 1115 by Prince Vladislav I, who is buried here. The centrepiece of the complex is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, rebuilt between 1712 and 1726 by Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel in the Baroque Gothic style; the New Convent was designed by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. The monastery is administered by the National Heritage Institute and offers two guided tours. In summer it hosts the Kladrubské léto festival and a historical fair.
