Kino Mír 70

About the venue

Kino Mír 70 occupies a building from 1903, designed by Viennese architect Arnold Goldberger as a Workers' House in neo-baroque style with Art Nouveau details. Rebuilt in 1959-1961 to plans by Lubomír Šlapeta, it took its current name from the 70mm projection format introduced here in 1969. The main auditorium seats 322, while the smaller Art klub holds 20. The cinema is one of the very few in the Visegrád countries still able to screen 70mm prints with original six-channel magnetic sound on a 105 m² curved screen - a capability celebrated since 2006 by the KRRR! festival.
