About the venue

J.A. Galerie MAT is an exhibition space that opened in November 2025 in Prague 2, a short walk from Karlovo náměstí. It occupies the former MAT café and legendary video-rental store, joining the cinema and restaurant that have operated here under the MAT Film Resort brand for over thirty years. The gallery shows paintings, photography, sculpture and glass, and runs guided tours as well as combined evenings with screenings at the neighbouring Kino MAT. Its name honours Czech graphic artist Jiří Altmann (1942-2023), who was closely tied to the Mattlach family - the gallery's founders - for many years.
