Slušovice Racecourse

Slušovice

About the venue

The Slušovice racecourse was built in 1981 during the era of the famous JZD Slušovice agricultural cooperative and is one of the youngest in the Czech Republic. Its 1,500-metre grass track is the only one in the country with banked curves. The venue forms a natural amphitheatre right in the middle of town, holding up to 10,000 spectators, and its landmark is a building shaped like a giant barrel, designed by architect Šebestián Zelina. It hosts both flat and steeplechase races - the best-known being the Velká slušovická steeplechase over 5,200 metres on 28 October - as well as occasional music festivals.
