About the venue

Čapadlo is a vaulted passage through the embankment wall, sitting right at water level beneath the Hollar Gallery on Smetana Embankment. The name refers to its original purpose - these openings were used to hook and unload cargo rafts floated down the Vltava, with the last ones arriving in Prague in 1947. Since 2021 the city has run it as an open cultural and gastronomic space with free entry: spring through autumn brings acoustic concerts, exhibitions, markets and community events, while winter sees an ice rink. Barrier-free access is from Divadelní Street.
