Botanical Garden - Rosarium

Olomouc 9

About the venue

The Olomouc Rosarium was established in 1970-1972 by the Rosa Club of the Czech Gardening Association on the site of a former city dump in Bezručovy sady park. Spread across 3.5 hectares, it holds over 4,500 rose bushes representing more than a thousand varieties - a collection officially designated as a National Plant Collection, making it the second largest rosarium in the country. The original strictly geometric beds, designed to evoke floating ice floes, are the work of architect Emil Zavadil; garden architect Zdeněk Sendler gave the site its current look during a renovation completed in 2016. The annual Vyznání růžím (Declaration to Roses) festival takes place here every June; admission is free.
