Josef Sudek's Atelier

Prague

About the venue

This small gallery on Újezd street in Malá Strana takes its name from Josef Sudek, the most celebrated Czech photographer of the 20th century. The single-storey pavilion of 61 m² is a faithful replica of the original 19th-century garden photo studio that Sudek used from 1927 until his death in 1976 - the original burned down in 1985. Declared a cultural monument in 1990, it is the last surviving example of this type of structure in the Czech Republic. Today it is run by PPF Art and hosts exhibitions of leading Czech and international photographers.
