The story takes place in the sixties, when two married couples independently move into an apartment in Hong Kong: journalist Chow with his wife and beautiful secretary Li-zhen with her husband. Their counterparts spend much time away traveling, and so Chow and Li-zhen spend lonely evenings together to pass the time. Until suspicion arises about extramarital activities of their partners.
