Merchants, craftsmen, doctors, teachers – people who shaped the face of the city and left their mark in it. There came years when names were erased from registers, when houses emptied and when streets became witnesses to fates that no one could change anymore. Persecution and violence afflicted Jews in every district town in Slovakia. The film is about memory and about neighbors who are no longer here…

Jaroslav Róna is a Czech sculptor whose works appear in public spaces and galleries across the country. He is best known for his bronze statue of Franz Kafka in Prague (2003). His sculpture draws on figurative tradition and literary or mythological themes.
