🎬 Cirque du Soleil: Kooza

The circus show Kooza is one of more than twenty productions by the world-renowned Canadian entertainment company Cirque du Soleil (Circus of the Sun). The spectacle offers, in addition to clown performances, for example a trio of incredibly flexible snake girls, a poetic "dance" duet on a unicycle, demanding tightrope stunts on a "two-story" rope, balancing on a tower of chairs, or a gripping act of two acrobats on the so-called wheel of death. The mysterious name Kooza comes from Sanskrit and means box, chest, or also treasure. The show premiered on April 19, 2007 in Montreal, where its recording was later made. Cirque du Soleil was founded in 1984 in Canada by street artists Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier. The company has since won numerous prestigious entertainment industry awards and gained recognition throughout the entire planet. Its performances have been seen by tens of millions of viewers. It is the most well-known contemporary representative of the so-called new or modern circus, which differs fundamentally from traditional versions of this type of entertainment in many respects: it refuses to use animals and in its productions combines acrobatic and clown circus tradition with elements of street theater, pantomime, ballet, or opera. Cirque du Soleil brought the form of modern circus to absolute world excellence. It engages the best of the best artists from all countries of the world, in its performances it typically uses specially composed music of various genres, striking choreography, original set design, magnificent costumes, inventive makeup (actually amounting to masks already), and the most modern technical facilities. The circus ring has been replaced by a raised circular stage. Tour productions, however, still mostly take place in a traditional large tent, which has a diameter of fifty meters and holds over two and a half thousand spectators. Some Cirque du Soleil ensembles travel around the world, while others have permanent venues in Las Vegas, in the city of Orlando in Florida, in New York, Tokyo, or Macau. Permanent performances are being prepared, among other things, in Dubai. These performances cannot be seen anywhere else.
