St. John's Organ Cycle 4/26: Hans Kistler (Clarinet)
Kostel svatého Jana Nepomuckého na Skalce, Prague
Hans Kistler, director of the Dr. Johanna-Decker School in Amberg and graduate in English, history, and clarinet, appears as a guest at the fourth concert of the St. John's Organ Cycle.
The combination of organ and clarinet opens a sonically rich space that shines especially in the works of French composers Ravel and Fauré. The French section is complemented by the virtuosic Scherzo from Louis Vierne's 2nd Symphony for solo organ.
Programme:
- Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750): Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C major | BWV 564
- Maurice Ravel (1875-1937): Pavane
- Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924): Après un rêve
- Louis Vierne (1870-1937): Scherzo | from Symphony No. 2 in E minor, op. 20
