Sanity Guitar Duo: Ivan Boreš & Vojtěch Vrtiška

Sanity Guitar Duo performs at Werichova vila on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 6:00 PM as part of the Guitar September festival.

Ivan Boreš is a guitarist and composer whose original works form the entire programme of the recital. Several of his compositions have been published - including 12 concert etudes, The Rover, and Nocturno, which won the Pro Guitarra composition competition. Other works include Tetrachordum, Spectrum, and Haiku; his most extensive recent work is a cycle of 24 preludes. Boreš has also composed pieces inspired by Spain (Spanish Suite) under the fictional name Fernandéz, a suite based on Peruvian melodies, and Corsican songs arranged for children.

Sanity Guitar Duo was formed through collaboration with Vojtěch Vrtiška, with whom Boreš studied at HAMU under Professor Štěpán Rak - both graduated in 2011 and 2012. Vrtiška complemented Boreš's compositions with his own part, so their shared repertoire includes the Spanish Suite by Fernandéz and all 24 preludes.
