Tokyo

Tokyo is a Zlín-based band formed around 2000. Their repertoire draws from Czech and Slovak big beat, folk balladeers, Latin American rhythms, country, jazz, rock, and Moravian folk songs by Fanoš Mikulecký. The lyrics are rhymed, complete with beginning and end - and sometimes they're downright silly. Yet they always reflect the everyday worries and joys of an ordinary cheerful person.

The band's sound rests on the drumming of Marek Šlapanský and the bass guitar of Jakub Lutner (Zuzana Bednaříková), the lead guitar of Petr Hoffmann (Martin Lysoňka Jr.) and the accompaniment of bandleader Martin (PIGALE). The music is woven through with piano by Pavel Procházka, trumpet by František Slavík, and saxophone by Zdeněk Marušák. Above it all rises the voice of Markéta Vodičková.
