People Who Change Our Cities 2026

An interdisciplinary conference where nine speakers will present concrete projects in architecture, design, transport, street furniture, and public administration - including both successes and failures. This year's event is moderated by Pavlína Louženská and Štěpán Bärtl. Each speaker has 25 minutes for presentation and 25 minutes for discussion.

The event takes place on 24 September 2026 at Bio Central in Hradec Králové from approximately 9:00 to 21:00. Refreshments are included in the ticket price. At the end of the programme, the audience votes for the most popular speaker, who receives the ZDAR 2026 trophy. An afterparty follows at the same venue after the programme ends.

This year's theme is small steps as big change: visual clutter, minor interventions, street furniture, waste management, local business, transport and parking. The speakers include Peter Bednár on local business and transport, Anna Švarc on Prague metro cleaning and advertising reduction, Veronika Rút on strategic cultivation of Czech cities, Tereza Beranová on minor interventions as participatory design, Šárka Dlouhá and Lukáš Řádek on visual clutter in Hradec Králové, Petr Štefek and Ivo Hrdlička on street furniture in Mikulov, Pavel Coufalík on the history of Czech advertising, Martin Hušek on waste management, Jan Symon on cultivating Ostopovice, and Martin Sucharda on water in cities.
