My Homeland

Bedrich Smetana's "My Homeland" has never before been adapted for the theatrical stage. The creative team behind the music-theatre-dance production "The Jungle Book" has joined forces with other artists to stage this work for the first time. This first encounter with a masterpiece of Czech classical music will take place in the circus tent of Azyl78 - in an atmosphere that is romantic rather than concert-like.

Several creative personalities collaborate on the production. Marko Ivanović will translate the musical richness of the symphony orchestra into the circus tent setting. Matěj Forman and his team will create the landscape imagery and overall visual world, and will also direct certain poetic sequences. Štěpán Pechar, as principal choreographer, will express the feelings of a wanderer moving through the Czech landscape through wordless movement-poems. Janek Jirků will invite audiences on journeys through selected poems and explores new puppet and visual approaches where previously music alone sufficed.

The production features dancers, actors, and puppeteers - members of the ensembles DEKKADANCERS and Holektiv, musicians from the Czech Philharmonic, and the improvisation group "We Guys Who Go Around Together".

With each performance, there is also an art workshop led by Matěj Forman for children: making horses in the "stable" of the Blanik Knights, with tickets at 300 CZK. The horses will be ready for painting and saddling always one and a half hours before the performance begins, and their young creators will have the chance to play an important role in "My Homeland". The production is intended for audiences of all ages - lovers of music, dance, improvisation, puppetry, and theatrical spectacle. Suitable for viewers from age 6 onwards.
