Deus ex mikrofona is a series of performances by the improvisation ensemble My kluci, co spolu chodíme, in which the ensemble collaborates with a different guest in the role of Director each time. This time, Rosťa Novák ml. takes on this role – artistic director and co-founder of Jatka78 and director of the Cirk La Putyka ensemble. The performance draws parallels between the roles of director and deity: the Director's voice represents a higher power that observes and guides the performers' actions without physically appearing on stage. A theatre rehearsal can become improvisation, and improvisation can become a theatre rehearsal – the boundary between the prepared and the spontaneous blurs. The series highlights the paradox of creating an improvisation ensemble: the (im)possibility of directing an improvised performance. The ensemble finds itself in a vulnerable situation: the Director does not normally direct in front of an audience, and the performers are used to working without authority. None of them know what to expect from the other. Audiences thus gain insight into the creative processes behind the scenes and discover the approach of a particular personality. The core of the ensemble My kluci, co spolu chodíme consists of graduates of HAMU and DAMU, who in their free-form improvisations combine physical theatre, dance, and absurd humour.
