Russian Circles + Pelican + Fotocrime
MeetFactory, Prague
Russian Circles return to Prague – following sold-out shows at Lucerna and last year's concert at ARCHA+, they now head to the Smíchov MeetFactory. Joining them are Chicago's Pelican and Louisville-based Fotocrime.
The instrumental trio Russian Circles has undergone a significant transformation since their debut Enter (2006) – from meditative, intricate melodies to raw, distorted monuments. On their latest album Gnosis (2022), produced by Kurt Ballou, the band focused on the most intense and darkest aspects of their sound. The pandemic changed their writing process: each member composed independently, resulting in their most concentrated and ferocious album.
Pelican, another Chicago instrumental outfit, arrive with their fresh album Flickering Resonance (2025), recorded following the return of original guitarist Laurent Schroeder-Lebec and produced by Sanford Parker. The recording combines doom roots with 1990s post-hardcore melody. The trio is completed by Fotocrime – a project by Ryan Patterson, founding member of Louisville's Coliseum. Fotocrime blend punk energy with influences from Sisters of Mercy and Echo & the Bunnymen, and they come to Prague with their new album Security, released March 13.
