Opening: ANDROS

**DOX Centre for Contemporary Art invites you to the opening of the exhibition ANDROS, taking place on 3 September 2026.**

The male body in contemporary Central European art.

The exhibition project ANDROS asks what it means to be a man today - and seeks answers in contemporary Central European art. The revision of established stereotypes and the loosening of rigid gender roles over recent decades have intensified discussions about the nature of masculinity and lead to existential questions: Who is a man? And what defines him? The male body, a classical subject in visual art for centuries, becomes in contemporary work a projection surface for doubt, searching, and the re-establishment of male form.

The collective exhibition explores this theme in a broader regional context - alongside works by Czech artists, it also presents pieces by artists from Germany, Austria, and the Visegrád countries. The curator is writer Vratislav Maňák, who develops and expands concepts from his book With Wittgenstein in a Gay Sauna (2026).
