Thelma and Louise

Louise Sawyer is a waitress fed up with life, her friend Thelma Dickinson a woman controlled by her despotic husband Darryl. The two set out on a weekend trip to the mountains to escape the monotony of everyday life.

One evening they stop for dinner. Thelma, intoxicated by the sense of freedom, gets drunk and begins flirting with a chance acquaintance named Harlan. When the man attempts to rape her in the parking lot, Louise intervenes - and in a heated confrontation, she shoots him in a moment of passion.

In panic, the women decide to flee to Mexico and not call the police, believing they would not be believed anyway...
