Ticket Inspectors

An action thriller by Hungarian-American director Nimród Antal, shot in the Budapest metro. The film was a major box-office success in Hungary, outperforming most Hollywood productions of the time.

The story follows a group of ticket inspectors and their passengers in dark tunnels that strikingly resemble the Prague metro. Amid bizarre and humorous situations between the "travelers," a masked killer lurks in the narrative. The brisk camera work and rapid editing evoke the daily rush of metro life, while the soundtrack by a musician named Neo (unrelated to The Matrix) features Media Ventures-style rhythmic synthesizers and various samples.

The film won the Award of the Young at the Cannes Film Festival and was screened in the Variety Critics' Days section at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
